Barbian / Barbiano

South of Valle Isarco/Eisacktal there is the sunny village of Barbiano/Barbian. This place is known above all for its leaning (church) tower - it is said to be even slanting than the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Between apple meadows, vineyards and forests there is much to discover and explore.

The municipality of Babiano/Barbian covers the area from the bottom of the valley up to the Corno del Renon/Rittner Horn - the local mountain. You can hike all year round walking along porphyry rocks. The Alpe di Barbiano/Barbianer Hochalm is a popular meeting place for guests and locals, while the Corno del Renon/Rittner Horn is a true hiking paradise. From here you have a fantastic view of the surrounding Dolomites. In winter, ski and snowboard lovers have fun on the snowy slopes.

Theme trails such as the Chestnut Trail, the Plum Trail or the Waterfall Trail are particularly popular with families.

In autumn you should not miss the traditional Törggelen evening in a cosy, rustic inn, with numerous specialities from South Tyrol and the delicious, roasted chestnuts from Barbiano/Barbian.
