Freienfeld / Campo di Trens

The beautiful village of Campo di Trens/Freienfeld in the Valle Isarco/Eisacktal lies south of the town of Vipiteno/Sterzing. Ideally located, the place offers a perfect starting point for active vacationers. Castles, biotopes and nature

In Campo di Trens/Freienfeld there are several castles to visit. Here you will find one of the best preserved castles in South Tyrol: Castel Tasso (Burg Reifenstein, in German). Another attraction is the Maria Trens Pilgrimage Church . It is the second most important place of pilgrimage in South Tyrol.

Several biotopes border on Campo di Trens/Freienfeld and after a short walk you can already enjoy the wonderful nature and the peace to the fullest. Campo di Trens/Freienfeld is also located directly on the long Brennero/Brenner-Bolzano/Bozen Cycle Route.

Many walking and hiking trails start in Campo di Trens/Freienfeld, such as the leisurely walk to the Trens Bee Trail, or the beautiful hike to Lake of Pontelletto (Puntleider See, in German) or a little more challenging hike to the Planer Alm Pasture.
