Frangart / Frangarto

The small village of Frangarto/Frangart is located between apple orchards and vineyards in the Val d'Adige/Etschtal, just a few kilometres from the city of Bolzano/Bozen. Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, here you can walk, hike or bike almost all year round. The valley is particularly beautiful in spring, when the apple blossom covers the whole area in white-pink colours.

Tips for a holiday in Frangarto/Frangart

Frangarto/Frangart is the ideal starting point for many activities: if, for example, you feel like a shopping afternoon, you can reach the city of Bolzano/Bozen in a few minutes by car, while the city centre of Merano/Meran is just about 20 minutes away.

Above Frangarto/Frangart there is the Castel Sirmiano/Sigmundskron Castle, which hosts one of Reinhold Messner's museums. The Pillhof, a farmhouse from the 15th century, is also well worth a visit.

Don't miss the "Wine Cellar Night" every year in June. In this occasion, numerous wine cellars invite along the South Tyrolean Wine Road invite you for a visit and to taste their wines.

Winter magic in the Val d'Adige/Etschtal

If you don't want to miss out on sport and fun in the cold winter months, you can reach one of the nearby ski resorts. The nearest ski area is the small and cosy Ruffrè-Mendola ski resort, particularly suitable for families. But also to reach larger ski resorts such as Obereggen and Paso Oclini/Jochgrimm it takes only 35 minutes by car.

In the pre-Christmas period in the evening you can relax at one of the numerous Christmas markets. The largest Christmas market is located in the provincial capital of Bolzano/Bozen, while you can find some smaller Christmas markets nearby, such as in Caldaro/Kaltern or in Cornaiano/Girlan.
