Gais
Gais in the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz holiday region, is located at the gateway of the Valli di Tures e Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal. This small, charming village is located in the Rieserferner-Ahrn / Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park and therefore offers many excursion possibilities all year round. Close to Gais there is Brunico/Bruneck, the "capital" of the Val Pusteria/Pustertal, as well as the most popular skiing area in South Tyrol - the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz.
Your holiday in Gais
Gais is the ideal starting point for numerous hikes. Mighty three-thousand-metre peaks in the Valle Aurina/Ahrntal invite you to challenging tours. Those who don't like it so strenuous will find enough hiking trails and routes between the untouched alpine meadows and the rustic huts of the region.
You can also explore Gais on the back of a horse, each time a great experience. Bicycle tours, rafting and paragliding are also popular in the area.
A very nice place in summer is the so-called "Baggerlacke" in Gais, a small, idyllic natural lake, which provides for cooling when it's hot outside.
Gais turns into an experience in winter as well: the most popular ski area in South Tyrol - the Plan de Corones/Kronplatz - is only a few kilometres away from here. Other ski areas nearby are the Speikboden and the Klausberg ski resort.
