Laas / Lasa
Laas/Lasa – the marble village in the Venosta Valley
Europe’s purest marble has been extracted for centuries in the small village Laas/Lasa. Since the marble from this village is considered an important material for works of art and buildings of all kinds, Laas/Lasa is known all over the world. Those who are interested to learn about the story of this marble can participate in guided tours about the “white gold”.
The village Laas/Lasa offers much more than just marble: it is the perfect place for a peaceful or active holiday.
The mountain world of the Venosta Valley
Laas/Lasa is only a few kilometers away from Schlanders/Silandro and has a picturesque historic center. Hiking fans can enjoy over 100km of hiking trails. The Stelvio National Park and the Ötztal Alps offer great tours for beginners and especially for experienced mountain hikers, leading to snow-covered 3000-m peaks.
In Laas/Lasa and the surrounding area, there are also many family-friendly hiking trails, including the popular Waalweg trails that lead along the various watercourses. If you are a cycling or mountain biking fan, we recommend the approximately 80 km long Etsch cycle path, which runs along the ancient Roman road Via Claudia Augusta.
Laas is also famous for its excellent apricots and in summer you should not miss the culinary and cultural festival "Marmor & Marillen" (marble and apricots).
