Rodeneck / Rodengo

At the gateway of the Val Pusteria/Pustertal, near Rio di Pusteria/Mühlbach, there is the pretty village of Rodengo/Rodeneck, which belongs to the Gitschberg-Jochtal holiday region. This area lies at an altitude between 800 and 1,200 metres and is known for its mild climate with many hours of sunshine. The landmark of Rodengo/Rodeneck is certainly its castle from the 12th century, which towers above the Rienza/Rienz Ravine. An inaccessible and well preserved fortress that is always worth a visit.

Thanks to the surrounding ski areas of Plose and Gitschberg, Rodengo/Rodeneck is the ideal starting point for all winter sports fans. Also on the Alpe di Rodengo/Rodenecker Alm you can hike with snowshoes in the cold season and there is also a cross-country ski run.
