Sigmundskron / Firmiano

The small village of Sigmundskron/Firmiano is located in southern South Tyrol, only a few minutes from the provincial capital of Bozen/Bolzano. The most important attraction here is without any doubt the impressive fortress above the village: Sigmundskron Castel

Sigmundskron Castel

The castle above the village of Sigmundskron is the biggest castle complex in South Tyrol and also one of the oldest. Between ancient walls and towers and tight stairways, here you can visit one out of six Messner Mountain Museums, the “MMM Firmian”.

Under the title “The enchanted mountain”, here you can learn more about the importance of mountains for humanity and listen to stories about different mountain tribes. A unique experience for the whole family.

After visiting the castle, you can make a detour to the beautiful city centre of Bozen. Here, you can stroll around the shops and arcades.

During summer, the lakes in the surroundings, like the lakes at Montiggl/Monticolo and Lake Caldaro, are popular destinations.

During winter, the skiing area Meran 2000 and the ski resort Obereggen are only about 30-40 minutes away.
