Teis / Tiso

The sunny mountain village of Tiso/Teis lies over the entrance to the Val di Funes/Villnösstal, at an altitude of 850 metres. From here you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Valle Isarco/Eisacktal, the Zillertal Alps and the Geisler/Odle peaks. This place is especially famous for the so-called "Teiser Balls" - small violet minerals that can be admired in the Tiso Mineal Museum. Tiso/Teis and surroundings

Between vines, green fields and chestnut trees, the surroundings of Tiso/Teis are best to explore on foot. Just below the village, there is the small town of Nave/Nafen with the St. Bartholomew Church, with its beautiful winged altar, which is also worth seeing.

The autumn is the time for Törggelen. In these days in Tiso/Teis traditional restaurants invite you to taste and enjoy their local specialities. At the beginning of October, also the traditional Speck Festival takes place in Tiso/Teis.

In winter, you will find several cross-country ski trails nearby and also snowshoe hikers will enjoy themselves.
