Valle di Casies/Gsies lies in a side valley of the Val Pusteria/Pustertal, between the Vedrette di Ries/Rieserferner group and the Deferegg Alps in the northern part of the valley and counts about 2,100 inhabitants.

In winter, mainly cross-country skiers meet in the Val Casies/Gsiesertal, after all there are 42 km of cross-country ski runs here. Ski tourers are in good hands at the Forcella di Casies/Gsieser Törl and also snowshoe hikers will find numerous opportunities to explore the white winter landscape.
Many surrounding ski areas invite you to snowboard, ski and toboggan. The small Santa Maddalena ski area is ideal for beginners.
